Dakota Access pipeline protesters told to leave by Dec. 5

Mercury News -- BISMARCK, N.D. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has set an early December deadline for American Indians and others to leave an encampment in North Dakota where they’ve been entrenched for months protesting the Dakota Access pipeline. Tribes including the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Sioux are fighting the Dakota Access project because they fear it will harm drinking water and cultural sites. Texas-based pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners says the 1,200-mile pipeline through the Dakotas, Iowa and Illinois will be safe.

Here’s a guide to the latest developments and key background about the protest:

Old news regurgitated by an oil shill. It is not gonna happen now as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has new marching orders. The protestors shall be allowed to remain on federal lands.

Time for the pipeline firm to go back to its original route plan, for which public hearings were held. The original route is north of Bismark, but the residents and politicians from Bismark protested over that route. That route wasn't good enough for the 'white eyes', so change it without hearings and don't notify the Native Americans affected by the change and hold 'hearings' on this change. What a sad and senseless process that is so biased in favor of the firm.

"Will they obey the law?"

Over 500 arrests so far....so that's quite doubtful.

As the disobedient and sometimes violent protests continue, it has been reported that the protesters are having any media that doesn't sympathize with them removed and barred from reporting.

Peaceful, non-threatening protest?

You decide.

"The violent protests need to cease!"
__________________

The protests are not violent, it is the police who have used water cannons, rubber bullets, rocks and other forms of aggression towards the Native Americans.

The main protest camp is on public land, and the Corp is merely closing one area and allowing them to congregate in an area south of the river where there is more access to emergency facilities if needed. The Corp also wants to avoid any confrontation with the overwrought police force and a 2500 member veterans group that is heading to ND this weekend to support the tribes.

and BTW.....there is NO TRUTH to the assertion that protesters are being funded by Soros or anyone else. That is a myth that has been perpetuated by right wing conspiracy media and repeated by their oil shill followers here.

When they finally back off, I hope they all make every effort possible to rein in their fossil fuel use ... and generate electric. ..

We've cut our methane use by 90% since base year 5 years ago...

And our gasoline use by almost 75% from base year...

And generated over 52,000 kWhrs of electric (52MWh !!) off our roof since late 2010...

13,200 gasoline and exhaust free miles on the 2016 TESLA MS 90D

All done with absolutely loss of comfort. . In fact we have and live in more comfort than ever..
