That's very interesting. I hadn't known about the limestone neutralizers, but it makes a lot of sense that these laboratories have them. Rather sad that a company that handles large amounts of HCl would request to cut back on such safety measures. I also had no idea that such damage could be caused by an RV park. In the labs for which I worked, we used a lot of acetone to clean our glassware, and often this waste was disposed down the drain during the early years. That practice was stopped. I also remember one new lab that had PVC pipes installed rather than metal. Needless to say, those pipes didn't last long even with everyone being as careful to minimize waste discharge. Do you miss your work? It seems you have some memorable experiences. Hope all is well.
